What Clues captures and researches.
Clues turns an image into a lead you can review. Basic capture reads the material you provide. Premium adds public business research. Every result can have gaps, so the app keeps your originals, research findings and edits distinguishable.

Charges, retries and cancellations
Welcome credits never expire. Paid monthly credits roll over through the next billing period, then expire on their original schedule. Cancelling renewal stops future grants and keeps existing credits until their expiry.
Reviewing a quote does not reserve credits. Accepting and starting the work reserves its maximum. Delivered work is charged once, and any unused hold is released.
A failed Clues request keeps its credits reserved for retry. Retry the same request using its existing reservation, or cancel unfinished work to release its unused credits.
Completed basic extraction costs 20 credits, even if no readable contact is found. Saving several contacts from one submission does not multiply its capture charge.
If basic extraction finished before premium research was cancelled, 20 credits are charged and the remaining 50 are released. Processing already in progress must finish before it can be cancelled.
Basic capture: what is in your image
One submission can contain up to ten related images. Clues reads business cards, signs, flyers, screenshots and the notes or typed details you provide. It can identify more than one business or person, then asks you to review the candidates before saving them.
Basic capture costs 20 credits per submission. It extracts visible details; it does not include a separate web research run. Check names, numbers and addresses against the originals, especially when an image is blurry or contains several businesses.
What each group of fields means
- Company and location
- The business name and any readable address. Research checks the website and location against the same business or branch. A listed address is not automatically its service area.
- Contact name and role
- A person named on your card or image. Premium also looks for a publicly identified business contact, such as an owner or manager. It leaves the person or role blank when the connection cannot be supported.
- Email and phone
- Details visible in the image or explicitly published by the business. A main phone or shared inbox may be the best available contact route; it is not necessarily a direct line to a named person.
- Website and public profile
- A readable website or a source-backed business or professional profile. Similar company names are not enough to establish a match.
- Description, industry and services
- Capture records what your input says. Premium looks for a factual business overview, specific products or services and relevant operating context supported by public sources.
- Originals, notes and groups
- Your original images stay attached. Notes and groups are information you add to organize the lead; they are not independently researched facts.
How to read your result
- Captured
- Read from your submitted image, typed details or notes.
- Researched †
- Returned by public-source research and supported by a linked source for that field.
- Edited by you
- A value you changed and saved. Your edits are protected from later research.
- Not found
- No supported value is saved. It does not prove that the information does not exist.
The contact table keeps existing captured values and your edits. Research fills empty, unlocked fields, so a short captured description can remain there even when a fuller researched summary is available in Business brief. The brief is a dated research snapshot, not an automatic replacement for your saved contact fields.
“Finished” means the research process ended. It does not mean every field was found or every source is correct. Open the links, check that they refer to the same business and branch, and review unresolved questions in Capture & research history.
Older records show what was saved during their original run. Improvements to research instructions do not silently rerun those records, spend more credits or create information that was never found. Ordinary contact exports use the saved contact values.
When you need a specific person
Premium company research includes a best-effort search for one publicly identified business contact. If none is verified, use the listed business phone, inbox or website and ask for the appropriate person. Do not assume the email address belongs to an owner just because it contains a name.
Find relevant people is a separate, targeted search for a role you choose, such as “operations manager.” It costs 100 credits and can return up to three sourced candidates. It may return fewer or none. It is not required just to see the company overview or public contact details already returned by premium research.
Clues does not contact the business for you. Editing, organizing and ordinary exports of funded results do not use additional Clues credits.
Before you use a lead
- Compare the captured details with the original images.
- Read the Business brief and open its supporting sources.
- Check the business match, location and whether contact details are shared or person-specific.
- Correct the saved contact fields, add your notes and choose a group.
- Export or follow up when you have enough reliable information for your purpose.
